It’s time again for America’s Next Pop Icon! The show where you can get tips from pros, sing like a pro, and get the inside scoop on up and coming artists. This week, we have Zenia Marshall in the studio.
On our Iconic News segment with Jessica Wood this week we learned… (drumroll please) that music’s current darling Olivia Rodrigo was recently sent a red ring by her idol Taylor Swift. The red ring symbolizes Taylor’s “Red” era, and she wanted Olivia to have it, knowing that she’s a fan! Super sweet move from Taylor.
Zenia Marshall, our featured artist, hails from Vancouver, BC. The singer-songwriter is fresh off the release of her new single, called “Heaven and Hell,” along with the accompanying visual component. According to Zenia, the track symbolizes her interpretation of love at a pivotal point in her life, and the way that love can be filled with extreme highs and lows. The inspiration came from a toxic relationship of hers that taught her this brutal truth. Zenia’s beautiful voice is exemplified in the ethereal track and music video – check it out at zeniamarshall.com!
We’re lucky to have Julian Miranda with us for our vocal tips segment once again, where he shares helpful tips as always. This time around, he discusses the importance of articulation and how it varies depending on the genre. For example, when you articulate too much, it is reminiscent of musical theatre, and doesn’t belong in the studio when recording a pop track. This can pose a challenge for those who have been classically trained, but as with many vocal tips, the best way to get it down is to practice.
