It’s a brand new week here at America’s Next Pop Icon!

Our hosts Andrew and Jessica are still living it up in Vegas, here to bring you the freshest pop news and introduce you to a rising new talent, Alexis Corry. Jessica was rocking a Ramones band tee, repping some classic NYC punk. 🤟 Speaking of band tees – if you’re in one and want us to promote your band by wearing your merch on the show, let us know! We love to support bands of all sizes and genres, hit us up at brittany@musicgiantpr.com to learn more. (We only want your clean band tees, not one you just took off of your sweaty back after moving the lawn for a few hours. 😂)

This week in Iconic News – we find out from our host Jessica that country megastar Carrie Underwood’s hit single “Jesus, Take the Wheel” was first offered to Lady Antebellum – and she turned it down! What are your thoughts on that? Let us know in the comments! It’s hard to imagine the song being sung by anyone else. Andrew reminds our listeners that as a singer or musician who doesn’t write their own songs, picking a song that resonates with who you are as an artist is key.

Next, we introduce our featured artist Alexis Corry, calling in from Vancouver! Singing from a very young age and taking singing lessons since she was 10-years-old, this girl has some serious vocal talent. The now 18-year-old singer shared her new song “Don’t Watch Me Cry” with us, a beautiful song that expresses a difficult breakup that Corry endured. Her ability to convey her emotions through her songs is truly one-of-a-kind. She also shared an original track “Better Part of Me,” which also revolved around a breakup. Must have been a rough one – but luckily, writing this song helped her move on. Listen to Alexis on Spotify here.

This week, singing and vocal coach Paul Ouellette gives us the inside scoop on how singers can sound more original and unique by playing around with their vowels and consonants, as well as being more expressive with facial expressions. We always get solid tips from Paul.
